File Locations and Backup Suggestions
The XLEcom.xls file is Independent on File Location
Keep in mind that the XLEcom.xls file can be placed in any location on your computer. In other words, you can move the XLEcom.xls file from its default installation directory to any location you want on your hard drive, such as your Desktop. If necessary, you can even store and run the program from a mobile storage device such as a USB key chain.
The whole point being ... The XLEcom.xls file itself is not dependent on the location from where you launch it within Microsoft Excel.
For example. In the default installation of the XLEcom.xls file, the path location to the support file Assets folder is C:\Program Files\XLEcom\Assets. As long as you do not change the Assets folder location, you can freely move the XLEcom.xls file to any location you want. If for some reason you need to move the Assets folder or any of the other XLEcom program related folders to another location, just update the new path locations within the program using the "Setup" utility on the Product Design sheet.
Save the DemoStore Online Store Sample XLEcom.xls file
It is recommended that you save a copy of the originally installed XLEcom.xls file so that you can revert back to it as a reference for creating your own site. Many people have downloaded the program and have immediately cleared the demo data from this file. Next, they submit questions regarding the usage of the program. If you retain a copy of the original XLEcom.xls file which includes the Demonstration web site, then you may find all the answers you need. Please read the "Quick Setup Instructions" by pressing the "Quick Setup" button on the Product Design Sheet.
For backup and safety practices, it is suggested to periodically save your web site, the XLEcom.xls file, using "revision type" file names such as Demostore_Online_1.xls, Demostore_Online_2.xls, Demostore_Online_3.xls, etc... This way you can always revert back to an previously saved file if needed.
