FTP Demonstration / Test Accounts
For evaluation purposes, this program includes three (3) FTP test accounts located on XLEcom.net's web server. These FTP test accounts are only to be used for demonstration and testing of this program and not to be used for hosting of your web site or for storage of your personal files. These FTP test accounts are provided so that you can demo this program and test the capability of your system using this custom FTP routine.
To view the files that were uploaded using this utility, use the following urls:
Multiple User Conflicts
Keep in mind there are other people like you evaluating this XLEcom program and they also have access to these same FTP test accounts. If many users are uploading files to the XLEcom.net web server at the same time, you could experience some FTP problems like slow a FTP response or just denied access due to a system overload. There is also a possibility that files you just uploaded to the test accounts may immediately be overwritten by others currently evaluating this program.
FTP Test Account Abuse
Our Technical staff will be monitoring these FTP test accounts for abuse and inappropriate content. If it is determined that these FTP test accounts are being abused and not used as intended, then these accounts will be permanently removed from the web server. If this is the case, then you will have to use your own web server for FTP access. Otherwise, have fun and enjoy evaluating this program.
If you already have an FTP Account or will acquire one soon, then you should enter in your FTP Account settings and delete the FTP Demonstration / Test Accounts.
About This Excel FTP Upload Utility
This custom Excel FTP Upload utility utilizes the basic FTP program (ftp.exe) included with the Microsoft® Windows Operating System. The ftp.exe file typically resides within the Windows folder. This Excel FTP Upload utility is setup to transfer your Published web site from your computer to your web server. All you have to do it enter your web server's FTP settings and choose the File Upload Options for uploading of your web site. The default FTP upload file extensions are html, jpg, and gif. If you want to add additional file formats to the FTP upload, then click on Add File Types button.
All HTML, PDF, ASCII, etc.. type files (all non-image files) will be uploaded to the html directory and all image files will be uploaded to the images directory on the web server.
Third Party FTP Programs
If you require more FTP options, then you need to obtain a dedicated third party FTP utility. There are many freeware and shareware versions available. A couple of recommended FTP programs would be CuteFTP or SmartFTP. You could find other FTP programs by using your favorite search engine to search the internet.

All HTML, PDF, ASCII, etc.. type files (all non-image files) files will be uploaded to the html directory and all image type files will be uploaded to the images directory on the web server. In either case, all files are transferred in Binary mode.
For file types to be uploaded to the html directory, choose the html option. For file types to be uploaded to the images directory, choose the image option.
FTP Upload Process
When you press the "Upload Files Now" button, XLEcom will automatically launch Microsoft Window's internal ftp.exe program. A DOS type window will open and uploading of the selected files will begin. This FTP DOS window will look similar to the one pictured in the image below. Depending on your system, the FTP window should automatically close when the FTP process is complete.
Upload Files - Multiple Servers
Use this Multiple Servers utility to simultaneously upload your published files to multiple web sites (servers) at the same time. The theoretical maximum simultaneous upload sessions you can obtain using Excel 2000, 2002, or 2003 is 3,990. Keep in mind that the number of simultaneously uploads you can actually achieve will be limited by the upload bandwidth allocated by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Step 1. Switch to the Previous Dialog Box (FTP Settings and Upload Published Files) and enter / save your FTP server account information for each individual web server.
Step 2. Next, select the files you want to upload.
Step 3. Press the "Multiple Server Options" button to select web servers for the file upload.
Step 4. Either select "All Accounts" or "Custom Selection". If you select "All Accounts", files will be uploaded to all accounts listed in the scroll box. If you select "Custom Selection", then you can choose from 1 to 7 accounts to simultaneously upload to by checking the check boxes and selecting the accounts from the drop down scroll boxes.
Step 5. Enter a start up delay time between FTP Upload launch sessions in seconds.
Since you have the capability to simultaneously upload your published files to multiple web sites (servers) at the same time, you should enter a time delay between the launch of each FTP Upload session. This time delay will help prevent the Windows Operating System from slowing down when you upload to many web sites (>10) at the same time. The greater the time interval, the more simultaneously uploads you will be able to achieve.
Step 6. Press the "Upload Files Now" button to start the FTP upload process. Keep in mind that you will have to wait until the last upload session is launched before you will regain control access to Excel.
