Publishing Files to FTP site

I followed the recommended process to upload my published files using FTP upload. When it came to the Windows System 32/ CMD.exe (Black screen) it tries open the ftp site; the cursor blinks for about 20 secs and goes back to the Site Designer Page in XLE.com; I have tried the host address setting as thatswood.com AND ftp:www.thatswood.com; In addition I have laoded the website to the XLE Test Website. Any advice welcome. Thanks in anticipation.

Publishing Files to FTP site

I used CuteFTP and uploaded the files. When I try access the website through Internet Explorer I get "Index of/" Any ideas whats going wrong?

RE: Publishing Files to FTP site

It appears that your index.html file is not located in the site's root directory. If your site can be viewed from the local publish on your hard drive and you uploaded the files correctly where as your index.html file is located in the site's root directory, then you should be able to view your site when you go to the root of your domain, i.e. yoursite.com.

Make sure your read and understand the setup procedures stated on the following page: Using a Third Party FTP Utility. This page shows a tree diagram of how your site should be upload to the webserver. Keep in mind that you only upload the files underneath the Publish folder and not the Publish folder itself.

Publishing Files to FTP Site

Thanks for your advice. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 and Excel 2003 SP3
I'll be back after following your advice

RE: Publishing Files to FTP site

It is difficult to determine the problem you are having without knowing both your operating system and version of Excel.

The XLEcom FTP utility has been tested in Windows 98 and Windows XP using Excel 2000, 2002, and 2003. If you are using Windows Vista, I cannot offer any help because I don't have Windows Vista.

Did your check out the following page: FTP Upload Utility ?

The FTP utility within XLEcom is very basic because it uses the built-in Window's FTP.exe program. I would recommend that you consider using a third party FTP program. These third party FTP programs offer many features.
