General Questions Re Setting Up & Layout

Hi, we have a few questions regarding this excellent utility, we are novices at this so please bear with us!

1. Can you please advise on how to change a website address in the Support Page section to a hyperlink?

2. On the Home Page, instead of displaying our company name is there a way to change it to a logo?

3. On the Ad page is there a way to show the You Save Price just as a figure & not a percentage?

4. Is it possible to add an area for site sponsers on the Home Page, ie we have an advert displayed at one of our industry websites and we want to link back to it as they have a daily news update.

Once again a great program and we appreciate all your hard work in developing it.

Regards

RE: General Questions Re Setting Up & Layout

1. Can you please advice on how to change a website address in the Support Page section to a hyperlink?

The HTML code for a hyperlink to a website or web page is shown below.

For example, the hyperlink HTML code to xlecom.com is:

<a href="http://www.xlecom.com" target="_new">xlecom.com</a>

Yields:
xlecom.com

Note: You can also place any text between the "> </a>" for use as the hyperlink text.

For Example:

<a href="http://www.xlecom.com" target="_new">Please visit our webbste</a>

Yields:
Please visit our webbste

The target="_new" part is for opening the link in a new browser window. You can remove this part if you want the result to open in the current browser window.

Note: If you publish your site using frames, then use the target="_new" part, otherwise the hyperlink will open in the body frame section of your website.

The HTML code for an email link is shown below.

<a href="mailto:customerservice@demostoreonline.com">customerservice@demostoreonline.com</a>

Yields:
customerservice@demostoreonline.com

Note: You can also place any text between the "> </a>" for use as the hyperlink text.

For Example:

<a href="mailto:customerservice@demostoreonline.com">Click here to send us an email</a>

Yields:
Click here to send us an email

2. On the Home Page, instead of displaying our company name is there a way to change it to a logo?

Yes, See the following topic:

How to Add a Custom Logo to your Website

3. On the Ad page is there a way to show the You Save Price just as a figure and not a percentage?

Yes, Before you publish your website, switch to the Database sheet and modify the formula in the You Save column (column S).

The current formula in cell S3 which yields the "You Save" calculated value in the following format $37.05 (11.1%) is:

=IF(ISNUMBER(R3)=TRUE,IF(ISERROR((Q3-R3)/Q3)=TRUE,"Enter Prices",TEXT(Q3-R3,"$#,##0.00")&" ("&TEXT((Q3-R3)/Q3,"0.0%")&")"),"")

Step 1. Remove the following part of the formula from the end of the formula in cell S3. This part adds the percentage to the calculated value, i.e (11.1%).

&" ("&TEXT((Q3-R3)/Q3,"0.0%")&")"

The resulting new formula should be the following and yields just the "You Save" calculated value without the percentage part, i.e.$37.05:

=IF(ISNUMBER(R3)=TRUE,IF(ISERROR((Q3-R3)/Q3)=TRUE,"Enter Prices",TEXT(Q3-R3,"$#,##0.00")),"")

Note: To make things easy, you can highlight, copy, and paste this resulting new formula from this webpage into cell S3. After you copy the new formula from this webpage, select cell S3 and then paste the new formula into Excel's formula bar.

Step 2. Now copy this cell downwards to overwrite all the cells in column S that contain a Product Ad.

Note: If you use the Design form on the Product Design sheet to create or update and ad, then you must edit the formula manually on the database sheet after you save the ad. The Design form method automatically creates the standard "You Save" formula, which includes the percentage value. This is why I recommend you edit the formulas prior to publishing your site.

4. Is it possible to add an area for site sponsors on the Home Page, i.e. we have an advertisement displayed at one of our industry websites and we want to link back to it as they have a daily news update.

Yes, Just add the HTML code for the sponsor to the text area within the Home Page on either the "Home Page Design" sheet or on the "Support Pages" sheet.
