Using Data Importing to Generate Ad Products

Hello,

I just downloaded Xle (trial) and would like to know if I can use the application just to generate my product pages - ad pages, catalog - before buying the full product.

We have a website already and would like to keep the hosting with our current service provider but need to make our product pages with spreadsheets due to high volume of inventory coming in.

Is it possible to link our categories in current store to the ad pages generated by xle?

Another question is, is it possible to have xle do one page per product item instead of putting as much products as possible in a single page?

Thanks for your help! :)

RE: Using Data Importing to Generate Ad Products

Question (1):
I would like to know if I can use the application just to generate my product pages - ad pages, catalog - before buying the full product.

Answer (1):
Yes, you can generate your product pages - ad pages, catalog - before buying the full product.

As stated in the topic, "Functionality differences between the Shareware and Registered versions", the shareware version is identical to the registered version except as stated in the following paragraph:

"All prices shown on the Published HTML web pages and to the Home Page Design Preview will be modified slightly from the actual values contained within the product database. The actual values within the product database will not be changed. This way you can republish the web pages using the actual values from the product database if you later decide to purchase and register the program. Also, a branding statement will be added to the bottom of each published Product Ad."

Question (2):
Is it possible to link our categories in our current store to the ad pages generated by XLEcom?

Answer (2):
The answer depends on how your current store is designed and how it functions; is it a purely static HTML site, where as you uploaded static HTML pages to your web server, or is the store running from a database such as MySQL where the pages are created on the fly.

All the XLEcom product ad pages are sequentially numbered page_001.html to page_xxx.html. See the following page for more information: Creating Product Ad Pages.

If your current store system will allow you to link to external HTML pages, then it is possible to link your categories in your current store to the ad pages.

Question (3):
Is it possible to have XLEcom do one page per product item instead of putting as much products as possible in a single page?

Answer (3):
Yes, Just assign a different sub category title to each individual product ad. This way XLEcom will publish one product ad per page. Again, refer to the topic Creating Product Ad Pages for more information.
