Product Images

Hi Sam,

Happy New Year. I am experiancing a problem with the Products Image folder.

Not sure why, but not all of my product images are showing up in the folder when I try to insert a photo into an add.

I've checked the Products folder and all of the images are there, but do not show up when I try to select one for a product ad.

I have all of mu pictures in .jpeg format and all of their names begin with a letter and not a number.

I most likely have about 1000 pictures in the Products folder and only 260 of them show up. Also, none of the images for your products show up - but they do appera in the add of the products.

Any suggestions?

Thanks - Frank

Credit Card Image change

Sam,

First, I have to say that your program is great, I don't have any programming experiance and I have no difficulty setting up my home page design or my products. Additionally your Support Services are the best I've ever had; you respond to all questions and problems within a timely manner... thanks.

I am still having no luck when trying to change the credit card image from visa-mc-dis-amex.gif to visa-mc.gif - when I open the directory
(C:\Program Files\xlecom\assets\images\website)within the Site Setup - Left Frame Page/Area no files are displayed. However, they do display when I go to the directory within windows.

Is there a way I can input (change) the file name directly into the program to make the change?

Thanks again for your quick support - Frank

RE: Credit Card Image change

Frank:

I experimented with moving the images folder you sent me all around the hard drive using different file paths from that of the default location "C:\Program Files\xlecom\assets\images", and was able to view the contents of the "website" folder that contains both the credit card images and your additional images such as "circlewcatgbttn.jpg and circlewcatlgtle.jpg". I tried this from many different file path locations and did not run into any problems.

All I can determine at this time, is that for some reason, this "viewing of the files list" is an Excel quirk, and is dependent on the PC running the program. I do not know why this is happening, but will look into this.

For the mean time, you can use the following workaround. Since the program is using the default image name "visa-mc-disc-amex.gif", I suggest you just rename the "visa-mc-disc-amex.gif" file to something like "visa-mc-disc-amex-old.gif", and then place the gif image you want to use in the website folder and rename it to the default file name "visa-mc-disc-amex.gif". Your new gif image will now be the default image the program uses for the credit card image.

I hope this helps you,

Product Images II

Hi Sam,

I forgot to mention - I did do that - when I "Sort file alphabetically" no files display.

Also, when trying to select the credit card images - none display, no matter if I use the "Sort file alphabetically".

Thanks - Frank

RE: Product Images II

Frank:

Try this Test:

To determine if this problem is specific to your working xls file, load a virgin copy of the demo "XLEcom.xls file and see whether it can read the contents of the images folders. If it doesn't read them, then let me know.

Note: If there are more than 3,990 files in the specific image folder, i.e. the product images folder, issues with regards to Excel's dialog box display capabilities my cause a problem that could result in a partial listing of the file names in a folder.

Product Images

Hi Sam,

I did as you suggested and downloaded a new copy to my computer. After downloading I checked the Product folder - all of the test images are there in addition to my pictures - a total of 728 files.

When I open the folder through "My Computer" all of the files appear, however, when I opwn XLEcom Web Site Creator and try to input one of the files into a product design not all are available.

Additionally, I am still not able to see any of the files for changing the credit cards (C:\Program Files\xlecom\assets\images\website) folder.

Note - When I downloaded the new copy of XLEcom I did not first uninstall the older copy, rather I used the same locations and overwrote the files. When I opened the XLMcom Web Site Creator all of my files were still there - should I have uninstalled before installing the new copy.

Thanks - Frank

Lets try this...

To answer your question, you do not need to first perform an uninstall of the program.

By the way, did you try to remove (delete) the sample product images, just leaving your product images in the folder to see if you can view all of them in the "Select a Product Image" dialog box?

Another Test:
For another test, exit Excel, and then move the entire XLEcom program folder to a new location. For example, move the XLEcom folder from the default location of "C:\Program Files\XLEcom" to "C:\XLEcom". Next, manually navigate to the "C:\XLEcom" folder and launch XLEcom by double clicking on the XLExom.xls file itself. Next, via Setup function on the Product Design sheet, modify all the file location paths to point to this new location and save the program. Exit Excel and re-launch it to see if all the images now appear in the dialog box. You can do the modification of path locations using the shareware version of the XLEcom.xls file.

If this test does not solve the problem, then zip up all of the files in your assets folder (C:\Program Files\XLEcom\assets) and send it to me using the tech support email address on the contacts page. I will take a look to see what is going on.

It is very important that you include in the postings information about which Operating System and version of Microsoft Excel you are using (i.e. Window XP Professional SP2 and Excel 2003).

RE: Product Images

Frank:

In the Product Image selection dialog box, uncheck the box: "Sort file alphabetically", and then you should see all the image files in the list. This is a quirk in Excel and one of the reasons I added this check box feature.
