Shopping Cart Payment Options

Hi All,

I presently have a site useing Mals-e Shopping Cart - My site accepts Credit Cards and PayPal - the customer makes a choice and then makes a payment.

When I go to one of the XLEcom Dem sites it is either PayPal or Mals Shopping Cart.

My question is if I start using XLEcom software can I still use both Credit Cards and Mals Shopping Cart.

If you would like to see what I am asking please go to my site http://www.circlewleather.com and you will better understand my question.

Additionally, I will need drop down boxes for colors and sizes - can I do that with XLEcom softwaer.

That about covers my questions - Thanks to all that will submit answers - Frank

Paypal Pro

What are the chances of getting Paypal Pro as an option?

Thanks
Don

RE: Paypal Pro

Don:

What you are referring to is called "PayPal Website Payments Pro" which requires both a merchant account and gateway. This is similar to the traditional ecommerce method used by many online stores. This method does require you to pay monthly fees to maintain both a merchant account and gateway. This Website Payments Pro option is offered by PayPal as a competitive alternative to other online transaction companies such as authorize.net.

You can use PayPal Website Payments Pro right now with XLEcom by using the Mal's ecommerce shopping cart option. All you have to do is setup your Mal's account, at Mal's website, to utilize the PayPal Website Payments Pro feature. Keep in mind that the PayPal Website Payments Pro feature is for the USA only.

RE: Shopping Cart Payment Options

Frank:

(1) I don't quite understand what you mean by " If I start using XLEcom software can I still use both Credit Cards and Mal's Shopping Cart".

What do you mean by "both" Credit Cards and Mal's Shopping Cart?

Both Paypal and Mal's accept credit cards. That's how ecommerce works. You need to clarify this particular question.

By the way, did you know that Mal's cart also offers the option to port the final payment to Paypal?

(2) I checked out your site and noticed that you are using dual option drop-down scroll boxes. Xlecom currently supports only one option drop-down scroll box.

Basically the two demo sites, Mal's and Paypal, are the type of sites you can expect using Xlecom.

If you need to use dual option drop-down scroll boxes, then you will either have to add the second option drop-down scroll box manually by editing the Published pages, or create a special function in Excel to do this automatically.

If you know to use Excel well, you can use one of the five User / Option columns to create the form element for the second option drop-down scroll box. You would need to use a series of Defined Names for the form option elements and a separator character to distinguish the different options. This method is for advanced users of Excel and is too lengthy to discuss in this response, but is possible. If you know Excel well, you can do almost anything.

I hope these answers help you,

Hi Sam,Thanks very much for

Hi Sam,

Thanks very much for getting back to me. Sorry for not being specific with my question.

As you can see on my site - when a person orders a product they are given three payment options - Credit Card - Payment by PayPal - Money Order - all on the same page.

In your demo stores you only display one option - on the PayPal site you display payment with PayPal and no other option.

In your demo store with Mals Shopping Cart you only have the credit card option.

I wanted to know if your software supported all payment options, as on my site.

As for the double drop down boxes - my products are sold in many colors and many sizes and many widths - that is why I need the drop down boxes.

As for my skills with Excel - they are much to be desired - I know how to create basic spreadsheets for my bookkeeping.

I did not create my site and I am unable to contact the person that did.

I would like to use your software - it looks like I would even be able to get around in it once it is set up.

I'm not sure if I've explained my questions fully - please let me know if you require additional information.

Thanks,
Frank

RE: Hi Sam,Thanks very much

Frank:

You can setup the Mal's shopping cart to accept or offer any type of payment option. This is independent of the XLEcom program. Go you your Mal's account and set up the payment options you want to offer.

To initially test your Mal's shopping cart's payment options using your Mal's settings as they exist today, Publish the XLEcom demo site as is and then manually edit one of the Published Product Ads by replacing the Mal's demo account settings with your current account settings. Reload the edited Product Ad page in your browser and click on the Add-to-Cart button. The shopping cart should work the exactly the same as is does for your current ecommerce site since the Mal's account setup has not changed.

Mal's Cart & Demo Settings

Hi Sam,

I did try to change the Mels Account info in the demo items as you instructed, however, I am not able to edit the field, it is grayed out.

I may not be doing it correctly, like I said in my earlier message - a programmer I am not.

Thanks & Have A Happy Holiday,
Frank

RE: Mal's Cart & Demo Settings

Frank:

In the shareware version, you are not authorized to change the Mal's' default demo account settings. However, once you purchase and register the program, you will be able to change both the Mal's and Paypal account settings.

I meant in my previous response, that for "test purposes", that you to change the account settings for one of the Product Ad by editing the HTML code itself in one of the Published Product Ad pages. This is so you can test your Mal's shopping cart's payment options using your Mal's account settings as they exist today.

Here is how to do it:
1. Publish the XLEcom demo site "as is" using the default Mal's demo account settings.

2. Next, using an ASCII type text editor, open and manually edit one of the Published Product Ads pages (i.e. page_001.html) and then replace the Mal's demo account settings with your own account settings for a single Product Ad. For "test purposes", you only need to change the account setting for a single Ad and not for all of the Ads on the page.

3. Next, save the HTML file and then reload this edited Product Ad page in your web browser.

4. Finally, click on the Add-to-Cart button that has your account settings. A shopping cart should open using your shopping cart account and will work the exactly the same as is does today with your current ecommerce site, since your Mal's account setup at Mal's website has not changed.

This should help you,

Take care,
