Adding a Category Title to the Product Ad Pages

Adding a Category Title to the Product Ad Pages

This method is only applicable to XLEcom versions 3.7 and below. Version 3.8 already has this functionality built into the program via a simple check box option. Visit the following page for more information: XLEcom Version 3.8 Released.

The following describes two methods for adding a category title to the top of each Product Ad page. The category title is a line of text composed of the main and sub category names for the products that appears on the page. An example category title is: Televisions - CRT and LCD TVs, where the main category is Televisions and the sub category is CRT and LCD TVs. This can be seen in the final screen shot image at the bottom of this page.

  • Method 1 - Site Setup - Product Ad Layout Options
  • Method 2 - Additional Code function

Note: These two methods provide similar results as Page Identifier feature. The Page Identifier feature displays the category title in the bottom right corner of the Product Ad pages. The two methods discussed here display the category title at the top of the page. More information about the Page Identifier can be found on the Site Design Setup Page - Include a Category Page Identifier on the Product Ad Pages when Publishing

Method 1 - Site Setup - Product Ad Layout Options
You can add a category title to the top of each Product Ad page by inserting the following line of code in the Message box in the Site Setup - Product Ad Layout Options dialog box as shown in the image below.

="<font face=""verdana"" size=""-2"" color=""#000000"">"&OFFSET(Temp1!X,0,1)&" - "&OFFSET(Temp1!X,0,2)&"</font>"

Remember not to place a carriage return at the end of the line of code. You can however change the font face, size, and color if needed.

Method 2 - Additional Code function
This feature is accessible via the Site Design, Home Page Design, or Support Pages Sheet >> Additional Code function.

Use the new "Add_Code" sheet to add following line of code to the beginning of the <body> section of the Product Ad Pages (cell D5) as shown in the image below.

="<font face=""verdana"" size=""-2"" color=""#000000"">"&OFFSET(Temp1!X,0,1)&" - "&OFFSET(Temp1!X,0,2)&"</font>"

Remember not to place a carriage return at the end of the line of code. You can however change the font face, size, and color if needed.
