£ to $ dilema

I've changed the currency symbol to UK £ within the program and have FTPed it to the host site. When I go to test the shopping cart and checkout all the items appear in US $ instead of UK £. The prices are not converted to the other currency so this renders the shopping cart unusable?

I need some help....Thanks in advance guys

wrong Currency symbol $ not £

Back again...

I'm using the PayPal shopping Cart feature.

I have changed the currency symbol to UK £ within both the shopping cart setup and the symbol itself.

I then FTP the published site to the host site. When I go to test the shopping cart and checkout all the items appear in US $ instead of UK £. The prices are not converted to the other currency so this renders the shopping cart unusable? (example $350. instead of £350.)

I have set the currency parameters at Paypal to £ sterling.

If I tick the box in the XLEcom PayPal Shopping cart settings and have a £ symbol in it...publish the program and try to purchase an item via PayPal I get the following error:

"You have entered unsupported characters for this field. Current available language character types are: European, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Thai. Please try again."

I need your expertise....Thanks in advance Sam.

RE: wrong Currency symbol $ not £

Mark:

If I remember correctly, you started using the XLEcom program back in 2005.

First of all, are you using the latest release of the program? If not, you should first Upgrade to the latest release. You can download the latest release here: Download XLEcom.

With the new release you can also use Multiple Price Options.

Make sure you setup the program correctly:

(1) Place a check mark in the check box and enter the "currency_code" value in the "Paypal Shopping Cart Setup" within the program. (Product Design sheet >> Setup button >> Select an Ecommerce Shopping Cart Service >> Paypal.com Service)

(2) Entered in the UK £ symbol in the "Global Ad Properties for All Products" using the "Ad Design" utility.

(3) If you are using the standard no-options hyperlink Add-to-Cart button method, you may also want try to publish the site using the Forms Add-to-Cart button method.

If you set up the program correctly, everything should work fine. I know of other XLEcom users using UK currency and they have not reported any problems.

Recommended Note: You can and should try Mal's e-commerce shopping cart. Mal's cart can port all final shopping cart transactions to Paypal if desired. Mal's cart also offers more options.

RE: £ to $ dilema

Mark:

First of all, you did not state what shopping cart service you are using, Paypal's or Mal's.

Did you setup the parameters in the "Shopping Cart Setup" to use the UK currency format, not just the symbol itself?

Did you also setup the currency parameters for your cart at Paypal's or Mal's site?
